Tips for Incentivizing Employees

Utilize incentives to receive early pledges, encourage participation, increase giving, or department competitions. Provide eligibility options when considering the use of incentives, and consider how they help you meet your campaign goals.

More than one incentive can be applied for anyone who:

  • Attends a group meeting

  • Logs in by a certain date, or makes a pledge on the Purpose Platform

  • Pledges a certain minimum level (weekly amount, percentage of salary, etc.)

  • Increases pledge by a certain dollar amount or percentage (10%)

  • Is a leadership giver ($500+)

  • Is a first-time giver


Popular incentives:

Incentives can be as simple as free lunch in the cafeteria, a gift card, or even a day off. Some companies ask their vendors for donations.

  • Vacation/PTO

  • Early dismissal on Friday

  • Preferred parking

  • Sporting event, concert, or movie tickets

  • Wine or gift baskets

  • Dinner for two at a popular restaurant

  • Token giveaways (key chains, water bottles, yoga mats, sunglasses, t-shirts, etc.)

  • Jeans day

  • Lunch or special event with CEO or senior executives

Team incentives:

Consider providing incentives for whole departments as well, as this encourages teamwork within the department and friendly competition between departments. Provide incentives for the highest percentage of participation or increased giving.

  • Coffee delivery by CEO each morning for a week

  • Department pizza party

  • Healthy snack break

  • Bonus time off

  • Birthday off

  • First Aid/CPR/AED Class

  • Sandwiches delivered for free lunch
