What is CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity?

CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity is national day of giving taking place on March 11, 2022, serving as an opportunity to engage your employees, vendors, networks and friends to come together as a collective force for good. It is an extension of the annual CHC workplace giving campaign specifically focused on raising awareness and critical funds to address the social, economic, and environmental barriers to good health.

While CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity will take place on a single day in March, there will be activation opportunities throughout the month across social media and a new volunteer package to help champion our efforts throughout the year.

Why Do We Need a Giving Day for Health Equity?

People living in under-resourced communities, without opportunities for access to needed care and services, continue to experience health and other related inequities that lead to poor health outcomes.

Recent estimates attribute 20 percent of health outcomes to the social and physical environment. This is due to social determinants of health, factors outside of health care that are shaping the health of our communities. An example of these determinants impacting health can be seen in the Flint water crisis, where tens of thousands of Michigan residents—42% of whom are living at or below the poverty level, and 54% of whom are African American—were exposed to lead-contaminated water for twenty months, and, as a result, 12 individuals died, fetal deaths increased by 58%, and the percentage of children with lead toxicity doubled.

We must take action, change systemic practices, and rally together #ForHealthEquity

Why did CHC launch this campaign effort?

Good health is the great equalizer. But the health of our communities has never been more off balance. People in under-resourced communities are disproportionately impacted by social, economic, and environmental barriers to good health, such as unemployment, poor housing conditions and lack of access to quality healthcare.

At CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, we envision a world where every person in every community has an opportunity to realize their greatest potential. We believe that everyone should have access to the resources necessary to live a healthy life, no matter their race, gender, financial situation, or geographic location.

How to Launch Your Giving Day #ForHealthEquity Campaign?

  1. Use our Corporate Campaign Toolkit to launch a giving campaign. Let your stakeholders know how they can join you in raising funds. Spread the word through social media, targeted emails, and media outreach.

  2. Start an employee giving campaign and provide a corporate match for your employees who donate to CHC Giving Day.

  3. If your employees have unused PTO, offer the option to convert those hours into donations.

  4. Activate your vendor network and encourage them to join you in raising funds.

  5. Offer your customers the option to raise funds with you, either through point-of-purchase asks or targeted emails.

  6. Offer a volunteer opportunity to recognize action along with donations using the CHC Pitch-in Package, a ready-made volunteer experience for your employees.

When does the CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity Campaign begin and end?

Employee and network activation is starting now. As our partners complete registration, they begin utilizing the Corporate Toolkit to prepare and promote participation. We encourage all participating partners to begin public campaigns on March 1, 2022 with the dedicated CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity effort taking place on March 11, 2022.

What is the Intended Impact?

Our greatest impact is together. All funds raised through CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity will help support trusted, vetted community-based programs working to close health gaps in communities across the country, while raising national awareness about the importance of health equity.

Is CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity open to the public?

CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity is open to the public, inclusive of our entire community of partners, plus every employee, vendor, or customer in their community. CHC has created a dedicated Giving Page so any individual may make a contribution #ForHealthEquity.

You may use the Giving Page in your public promotion of CHC Giving Day #ForHealthEquity to encourage your audience to join you in giving on March 11, 2022.
